Carmel Colored Minced TVP


Our “Beef” Like Carmel Veggie Crumbles Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) is sold in a 1lb bag.  Textured Vegetable Protein is a soy product that is high in protein and fiber and low in fat and calories. TVP is soy flour that has been cooked and then dried. TVP is great to use as a meat extender or use as is. It is simple to prepare and absorbs all the flavors of whatever recipe you are cooking. Each one of our TVP products is extremely versatile and can be used in stews, soups, patties and more!

Chipotle Cheese”Burger” RecipeServes 6 

  • Before cooking, rehydrate the Carmel Colored Tidbits.  Take the 1lb bag of Carmel Colored Tidbits (dry) and put in a bowl.
    Pour in 1 cup of hot vegetable, beef, or chicken broth. Let TVP sit for about 5 minutes or until all the broth has been absorbed.
  • *For this recipe, when TVP has absorbed all the broth, squeeze out excess juice.


  • 1/4 cup Mayo – I like Goya Brand
  • 1 chipotle chili pepper from can, chopped (Goya Adobo Sauce)
  • 1/4 cup sauce from Goya Adobo Sauce can + 3 tbsp extra
  • 3 tbsp garlic, minced
  • Fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • All Purpose seasoning to taste
  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Carmel Colored Minced TVP
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 6 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium size red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 -2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • lettuce
  • Burger Bun of your choice
  1. In medium bowl, mix mayonnaise, chipotle sauce, 1 tsp of garlic, cilantro and adobo sauce. Cover and refrigerate until ready.
  2. In large bowl, mix beef, TVP*, chopped chipotle, 3 tbsp of chipotle sauce, remaining garlic, and all-purpose seasoning until combined
  3. Divide meat and TVP into 6 portions. Form into 1 – inch thick patties. Meat can get touch if over-handled so be careful.
  4. Set grill to medium high heat. Grease with oil. Flip burgers over once and cook till desired. Add cheese.
  5. Top with onion, tomato, and lettuce. Use the chipotle mayo sauce and put on bun.
