“Beef” like Carmel Veggie Crumbles TVP

Our “Beef” Like Carmel Veggie Crumbles Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) comes in a 1lb bag.  Textured Vegetable Protein is a soy product that is high in protein and fiber and low in fat and calories. TVP is soy flour that has been cooked and then dried. TVP is great to use as a meat extender or use as is. It is simple to prepare and absorbs all the flavors of whatever recipe you are cooking. Each one of our TVP products is extremely versatile and can be used in stews, soups, patties and more!

Saucy “Beef” ChiliServes 8 

  • Before cooking, rehydrate the Carmel Colored Tidbits.  Take the 1lb bag of Carmel Colored Tidbits (dry) and put in a bowl.
    Pour in 1 cup of hot vegetable, beef, or chicken broth. Let TVP sit for about 5 minutes or until all the broth has been absorbed.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/3 lb “Beef” like Carmel Veggie Crumbles TVP
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 medium green pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper or paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 – 28oz can diced tomatoes with juice
  • 1 – 9oz  can tomato sauce
  • 2 small cans of beans (whichever you prefer – drain)

For toppings (optional):

  • Sour Cream
  • Hot sauce
  • Salsa
  • Shredded Cheese
  • Avocado
  • Fresh Cilantro
  1. Saute ground beef in oil till brown. Drain meat. Add TVP so it can absorb all the flavors from the ground beef. Cook for 5 minutes.
    Remove any excess fat or oil in pan.
  2. Add onion, peppers, garlic to a large pot. Simmer for 3-5 minutes. Then add cooked ground beef and “Beef” Like Carmel Veggie Crumbles.
  3. Add diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Bring to a boil and simmer for 60-90 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add beans and cook for 2 more minutes.
